Bio/Info: The Hudsons, Austin’s favorite folk duo, has reincarnated itself as The Nasty Clan and is prepared to lay siege on all ears in the name of rock n’ roll. While the new group has all the lyrical ingenuity and collaboration The Hudsons have become known for, this music finds no home in a coffee shop and is definitely not for the faint of heart. Brian Hudson and Hudson Mueller have been a team since becoming acquainted as college freshman and the pair quickly gained success and notoriety as some of Austin’s freshest and most creative musicians. While best known for The Hudsons (Voted “Austin’s Best Folk Group” in The Austin Chronicle), their musical interests extend far beyond the friendly confines of the acoustic guitar. The Nasty Clan is a completely addictive reincarnation for the guys, combining easy-going pop-rock hooks and upbeat rhythms to create a rougher and rockier sound guaranteed to rattle some perspectives. Joining Mueller and Hudson on their rock quest is childhood friend, Kivett Bednar, educating The NC’s melodic racket with his Berklee College of Music degree. They also recruited veteran bassist, James Willis (who also tours with Texas country sweetheart, Sunny Sweeney) and drummer Mark Evans to round out their quintet. Together, the men of The Nasty Clan create introspectively lyrical rock– driven by influences spanning from Elliot Smith and Paul Simon to the Shins and Spoon. Fresh off a month-long stay in the Texas Hill Country spent forging their sound, The Nasty Clan is prepared to shake off the cabin fever and begin their public assault.
